Paithani.info, a 'Touch of Class' initiative, is designed to serve as a ONE place destination for all information about Paithani Art including Paithani Sarees. It is an effort towards building a comprehensive information resource that will benefit the visitor with different aspects of this magnificent Indian Art. What is known about Paithani and it's history is essentially centered around Paithani Saree and have been confined to a traditional textile of Maharashtra. Very little is explored beyond its weaving style and history that commonly believed to be originated in the era of the Satvahana Dynasty of Paithan or Pratishtan (200 B.C.).
Any form of art is nothing but a reflection of the culture and religion of the land it originates. One can not explain an Art to its roots without understanding the various facets of the Culture, Tradition and Religion. Our starting point is thus understanding the Indian Culture and Tradition dating back to 5000 years. Various historical, religious texts, and monumental objects form the core source of information.
